Kathy was born July 24, 1960 to Larry and Bunny (Booth) Flaherty. She graduated from Castle High School in 1978 and went on to receive her degree in accounting from Ivy Tech. She was fun, kind, beautiful, intelligent, and had a laugh that would brighten any room. Kathy had many roles throughout her life; beloved wife, mother, friend, and most importantly Mawmaw to her eleven grandchildren whom she would do anything for.
Kathy is survived by her best friend and loving husband of 25 years, Michael Layman; daughters, Kristin (Andy Pape) Martinez and Nicole (Dectrick) Clardy; son, Jeremy (Shea) Belwood; brothers, Jim Flaherty and Rick (Kelly) Flaherty; sister, Marcy Brookes; and grandchildren, Renee', Kamdyn, Parker, Ayden, Damian, Bentley, Ariana, Laila, Holden, Raelynn, and Hayes.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dotty Feistel.
Celebration of Life will be held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Boone Funeral Home East Chapel, 5330 Washington Avenue with Pastor Lou Rodriguez officiating.
