Rex was a physician, working at IU Methodist Hospital for nearly 40 years. He did volunteer work providing medical services for 20 years at free clinics in the inner city after retiring from his private practice. He was awarded the Gennesaret Free Clinic Humanitarian Award in 2014 for his years of faithful service. Rex gave up his clinic work to care for his wife full time.
Rex was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Joyce Fetters Thoman. He leaves behind his children, Reginald (Linda) Thoman, Scott Thoman, Jennifer (Rich) Whaley, timothy (Catherine) Thoman, Radford Thoman, Steven (Michelle) Thoman; 18 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday February 4, 2022 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Flanner Buchanan-Carmel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday February 5, 2022 at 11 am at St. Pius X Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
