Mount Vernon - Elizabeth "Betty" Louise Swihart, age 81, passed away in her home January 16, 2022, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Betty was born February 24, 1940, in Bow, Washington to parents Arthur and Julia (Aase) Johnson.

Betty married the love of her life, Richard Swihart in 1963 in Deer Park, Washington. After marriage, they moved to Sedro-Woolley where they lived for 23 years and then to their home on the Skagit River in Mt. Vernon, Washington where they have remained for the last 35 years.

Betty worked for Skagit State bank for 40 years, where she made many memories and lifetime friends.

Betty loved going clam digging with her husband, Rich on Lopez Island, fishing for humpies from their dock on the Skagit and crocheting. Half of Skagit County probably has something crocheted by Betty.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Art and Julia Johnson; brother, Andrew; daughter, Karen Claybo.
