Mary Yonts, daughter of the late Patrick and Nannie Boatwright Blair was born at Puncheon, Kentucky on March 5, 1908. She passed from this life at the Whitesburg Appalachian Regional Hospital, Whitesburg, Kentucky on Friday, August 4, 2000, making her stay here on earth 92 years, 4 months and 29 days. Mary has been in declining health for the past six years and seriously ill the last weeks of her life. She married Ernest Yonts on April 30, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 21, 1987. Brothers Willie, Johnny, Clinton, Jessie, Ercel and sisters Corie Bates, Liddie Blair, Louemma Hall and son-in-law Ralph Wright also preceded her. Mary loved working in her garden and Quilting. While she was doing either one she loved to sing. Mary has been a member of the Primitive Baptist Church for over 60 years. She is survived by daughter Allie Wright of Deane, KY, daughters and son-in laws: Hassie and Mick Short of Jackhorn, KY; Mallie and Bob Smith of Avon Lake, Ohio; grandchildren: Bobby, Sammy, Jack, Shirlie, Kachy (Kathy), Marylyn (Marilyn), Janice, Florence and Vickie; 21 great grandchildren, 28 great great grandchildren, and nephews Estill and Edward Hall whom she raised as her own. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends to morn her passing.
