Mrs. Betty Waters Allen, 93, of Valdese flew away to Glory on January 27, 2022 following a period of declining health.

Betty was born August 1, 1928 in Burke County to the late R. Harper Singleton and Margaret Furr Singleton. She worked as a Clerical Supervisor for Gaston County D.S.S. and was a faithful member at Christ United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Carol Waters, second husband, William Hayes, and her late husband Burl Allen; and half sister, Lillian Walters.

Survivors include her two sons, John S. Waters and wife Elisa of Morganton, and David Lail Waters of Snowflake, AZ; daughter, Gaye Ellen Oberlin and husband Richard of Chino Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Eli J. Waters and wife Amanda, Joshua S. Waters and wife Alana, and Julie Anne Oberlin and husband Robert Brassfield; and great grandchildren, Harrison S. Waters, and Hudson H. Waters.

A funeral service will be held 11:00AM Thursday, February 3, 2022 at Christ United Methodist Church with the Rev. Cindy Wechter officiating.

Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
