Mrs. Ella May Hines, daughter of John and Eliza Rodda, was born on a homestead south of Newell. March 28, 1876, and passed early Tuesday morning, August 23, I960. She had attended the county schools in Sac County. She was united in marriage with Frank Hines Feb 29,1897 at her parent's farm home. They farmed in the Newell community until they moved to Newell in March,1919. Mr. Hines passed away December,1949, after which she made her home with her daughter and son in law, Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Ellis She was a member of the Methodist Church, also a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary She is survived by three children, Merle of Storm Lake, Esther (Mrs. G. E. Ellis) of Newell, and Neva (Mrs. W. E. Witter) of Marcus; four grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
