Mildred Louise (Davis) Miller, age 87 of Loudon, passed away Wednesday, January 26, 2022 following a brief illness.

Mildred was born Nov. 22, 1934 in Martin, Tennessee to the late James Harry and Martha Lee Ammie (Evans) Davis. Mildred was a 1952 graduate of Martin High School where she excelled in academics and sports. She was a member of the girls' basketball team where in a single game she scored 41 points helping lead her team to victory. She also played the alto saxophone in her high school band. Off she went to UT Martin and to her chagrin there was no basketball team so she settled for a spot on the tennis team. Mildred received her Bachelor Degree in Business Education from UT Knoxville in March of 1956 and three days later started her 41 year career teaching business subjects at Loudon High School. Everyone remembers Mrs. Miller's typing class. She was a favorite of many students. During her tenure at LHS, she worked to attain her Masters in Business Education.

Retiring in 1997, she could be found working in her church and community and was always faithful to support her beloved husband in his activities. Mildred maintained a neat and tidy home and her Sour Cream Pound Cake was always a treat to enjoy.

She was a member of the Public Wells Baptist Church in Martin, TN and was saved as a child in that church. She was a longtime faithful member of First Baptist Church in Loudon and of late enjoyed worshipping and was a member of Riverview Baptist Church in Loudon. Mildred was a member of the National Education Association, The TN Retired Teacher Association and Lenoir City-Loudon Co. Retired Teacher Association.

Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gertrude Davis Myrick, her nephew, Marty Myrick; stepson, William J. "Little Bill" Miller and step grandson, Michael Lynn Miller.

She is survived by her beloved and devoted husband of 65 years, Billy Joe "Bill" Miller, Loudon; nephew and nieces, James L. and Rita Ball, Silverhill, AL, Judy and Bob Womack, Dallas, TX, Susan Metts, Raleigh, NC and Cindy and Ivan Fearnhead, Wilmington, NC; great niece, Marsha (Eric) Sullivan and great nephew, Robert (Diane) Womack, special friends, Charlie and Mattie Bettis, Philadelphia, TN, Keenen and Kaylyn Hawkins and their 4 children and Abby and John Clendenen, all of Loudon.
