David Wayne Allen, age 81, of Strasburg, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 28, 2022. David was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina on November 11, 1940 to the late Patrick and Mattie (Tyler) Allen. David grew up in South Carolina and spent much of his life in Maryland, Virginia and Florida. His career was spent proudly serving more than 30 years in the United States Air Force, United States Army and in civil service to the United States Navy, where he worked as a pressman. David was an avid fisherman, a passion he pursued at every opportunity. He loved hotrods and muscle cars, his cowboy hat and boots, his pistols, civil war history, Redskins football and could often be found riding his scooter around town. He was known for his colorful, expressive language and amusing euphemisms and few who met him will ever forget this one-of-a-kind man. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his siblings: Lonnie, Irene and Buck Allen. Left behind to cherish his memory are six children: Randy Allen and wife Christine of Palm Bay, Florida, Stacy Allen and wife Christina of Toms Brook, Virginia, Susan Allen of Strasburg, VAirginia, Amanda Sargent and husband Nathan of Abingdon, Virginia, Christopher Allen of Palm Bay, Florida; Earland Allen and wife Lauren of Strasburg, Virginia; twenty three grandchildren: Brittani Wallace, Tyler Allen, Christopher Athey, Zachary Allen, Joshua Allen, Jackson Allen, Brandon Allen, Faith Athey, Alaina Allen, Morgan Herr, Isaac Sargent, Dylan Allen, Bryson Sargent, Ryleigh Allen, Madalyn Allen, Chase Allen, Mercy Davis, Paige McLaughlin, Noah McLaughlin, Landon Sargent, Aubree Allen, Sadie Sargent and Jaxon Allen; seven great-grandchildren: Landon Athey, Lucas Athey, Charlotte Allen, Everleigh Allen, Mason Allen, Emmarie Herr and Fawn Caricofe with two more blessings on the way; in addition to a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and special friends.
