SHARON'S OBITUARY

Sharon Gail Walker of Shady Spring, West Virginia passed away at Bowers Hospice House on Thursday, January 27, 2022. Her heart of gold stopped beating surrounded by her four cherished children, while her fifth child awaited her arrival at Heaven's door.

She was preceded in death by her six-year-old daughter, Melanie Caponiti, parents Obert Olaf and Lona Delores (Farley) Whitt, husband Jesse Walker, sister Judith Carol Robertson, and life long friend, Sue Lilly.

Gail is survived by her four loving and doting children: Montaree Caponiti of Pawleys Island, SC, John Caponiti (Tammy) of Shady Spring, WV, Mitzi Richmond (Wayne) of Crow, WV, and Ronnie Johns (Colleen) of Redford, MI. Five grandchildren: John Christopher Caponiti (April), Derek Richmond, Megan Gray (Quinn), Morgan Terry (Adam), and Madison Johns. Two great-granddaughters: Hallie Caponiti and Lorraine Terry. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law Cindy Johns and several nieces and nephews.

Gail was born September 30, 1934 in Abney, WV. She attended Sophia High School where she was a majorette for the Blue Hawks class of 1952. Most of her adult life was spent in Shady Spring, West Virginia.

Gail was a faithful member of Perry Memorial United Methodist Church in Shady Spring. She belonged to the United Methodist Women where she enjoyed working at the Perry Easter Egg Factory and the annual rummage sale. She retired from the Raleigh County Board of Education where she worked as a Central Office secretary.

She was an avid bowler where she excelled in leagues, tournaments, and was recognized for her many accomplishments. She bowled the game of her life with a high score of 298. Her average score was 265. She loved to cook, make bread, and spend her days with family and friends. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, listening to Elvis Presley, and George Jones. During her time as a resident at Bayberry Retirement Inn, her dear friend, Ethel Ferguson introduced her to the joy of coloring.

Gail loved to make people feel good. She touched the lives of many people through her caring, loving, and nurturing spirit. If you can count yourself among her friends, you are truly blessed. A person's life is represented by two dates separated by a dash. Gail made the most of that dash. She loved her Lord and freely shared that love with others, especially her family.
