James worked for Becker's Products as a driver and as a Teamster's Union Representative for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed coon hunting and raising coon hounds, and working on cars. He was also very involved with his Southern Baptist Church and often sang for the praise team.
James is survived by four children; Chris (Kristen) Gehrke, David (Gloria) Wilson, Diana (Barry) Melhorn, and Amy (Alan) Wright, thirteen grandchildren; Carolyn, Katie, Alan, Chloe, Chelsea, Dawn, Glen, Michael, Alex, Ray, Collin, Kenna, and Kayla, ten great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and five siblings; Evelyn Hawes, Linda Clark, Cinda Rhodes, Larry (Marie) Wilson, and Garry (Jen Jen) Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 26 years; Elizabeth, a daughter; Judith, a granddaughter; Christy, and a sister; Joyce.
There will be no services at this time for James. Arrangements are entrusted to the VanHorn-Eagle Funeral Home in Hillsdale.
