Belton, MO - Captain Robert William "Bob" Crow passed away on January 21, 2022, after a most courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Mount Vernon Ohio, 1945, to Jack and Mariam Crow. He married the love of his life, Teri Crow on June 18, 1970, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. If you asked 100 people who Bob was, they'd all give you a different story. Bob demonstrated commitment to all things, and to all people. He was courteous, thoughtful, compassionate, and a man that could be trusted. No one ever doubted him, his love, his abilities. His wife would tell you, he's her prince from another galaxy; his daughters would tell you he's a knight in shining armor "Ask Dad!"; and his grandkids, and great grandkids would tell you he's the greatest dragon tamer on earth. Bob was all of these things, and so much more, to so very many people. He was extraordinarily intelligent, and his learning, as well as his teaching, reached far beyond his small-town childhood in Danville, OH – from Spanky and the Gang, to an Eagle Scout, various volunteer and community outreach roles, dive and rescue, straight on to college.
From there, to a pilot in the U.S. Air Force, a U.S. Air Force air traffic controller, and U.S. Air Force rescue and recovery diver. He flew operations, most unbeknownst to family and friends, "I could tell you, but I'd have to kill you afterwards." He served his country throughout the world, in peace, and in war; in Vietnam, as well as Korea. His wings landed at the National Headquarters of the V.F.W., and he was immediately surrounded by people who would become life-long and dear friends. Bob grasped his mortal leave with the utmost dignity and bravery, gently laying his sword at his family's feet.
He leaves Teri, his devoted bride of 52 years, and for all eternity; 3 daughters (Renee, Kimberly and Tanya); 4 siblings (Carol, Pat, Ruth and John); 12 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren.
