STAPLES (Blackwood), M. Vivian - 88, Truro, passed away peacefully Thursday, December 27, 2007, in Colchester Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born September 13, 1919 in Debert, she was a daughter of the late Eldren and Ethelwyn (Lynds) Carter. Vivian was a lifetime member of Debert Baptist Church. She worked at Varner's Fashions, Truro and later at The Palliser Restaurant Gift Shop until her retirement in 1979. She enjoyed sewing and knitting and faithfully watched her daily soaps. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren who will miss her dearly. Vivian is survived by daughter, Deanna (Bob) Smith, New Glasgow; sons, Arthur "Art" (Anna), Campbell River, B.C.; Robert "Bob" (Diane), Salmo, B.C.; Gary (Enid), Campbell River, B.C.; Carter (Roberta), Debert; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Marion (Frank) MacMichael, Debert; Olga (George) Baker, Guelph, Ont.; former husband, Carmen Staples, Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Benvie Blackwood; brothers, Richard and Edwin Carter; Donald Rupert in infancy. Vivian's family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday, December 30, in Debert Baptist Church, from where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Monday, December 31, Rev. Henry Boehm officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Spring interment will be held in Middle Road Cemetery, Debert. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Vivian's memory to Debert Baptist Church are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall Funeral Home, 55 Young St., Truro.
