A prolific author, he wrote more than 40 books, more than 44 courses, tens of thousands of pages in handouts and articles, starred in a film and, for 14 years, taught his Online Philosophy Course, COF, weekly - accounting for more than 570 classes. His ideas gained prominence in public debate, guiding subjects such as conservatism, religion, philosophy and politics. According to him, his courses are the only ones that really train high-level professionals in the country, superior to humanities degrees in universities. He was Called the Father of the Right in Brazil, but he rejected this title. Aware that he has done a lot for the right in the country, he believes that democracy involves the rotation of powers and that the left intends to have hegemony governing. Olavo de Carvalho moved to the United States because he was proposed to be an international correspondent for the Diário do Comércio, a newspaper of the São Paulo Commercial Association. He had no plans to return to live permanently in Brazil, since his life with his children and grandchildren was established there. He was in Brazil again for health reasons, but ended his days in the countryside of Virginia. He chose this place because he liked the beauty of the region, the spirit of the residents. Between 2005 and 2011 he wrote a set of texts that were gathered in the collection "Letters from an earthling to the planet Brazil," in 10 volumes. The idea for the systematic online philosophy course came from his advisor and student, Silvio Grimaldo. When he taught his course, he expected approximately 100 students, but reached more than 5,000. When trying to regularize his situation outside Brazil, he received the United States visa of people with exceptional achievements in the arts, letters, sciences, etc. for possessing "extraordinary ability," the highest recognition that a Brazilian writer has received since the beginning of the country, allowing him to legally reside in the USA.
