John Newton and Thelma Rose Thornton passed away a day apart after 45 years of marriage. John passed on Wednesday, September 2 and Thelma Thursday, September 3, 2020. He was born May 24, 1938 in Lone Camp, to John Madison and Lela Owen Thornton. Thelma was born August 19, 1945 in Ranger, to Adolph Frank and Julia Elizabeth Poydock Nowak. They both will be missed greatly by all those who knew and loved them.
Suvivors include their children, Terry Thornton and Sherry and Roger Roberson; grandchildren, Brandon and Brooke Roberson, Lindsey and Jon Ervin, Cliff Thornton, and Bailey Roberson; great-grandsons, Braycen Fox and Jonathan Roberson; their siblings, Alta Mae Thornton, Charlie and Virginia Thornton, Jerry and Linda Thornton, Sherry Salters, Doris and Gary Thornton, and Kate Nowak. They were preceded in death by their parents and siblings, Jimmy Paul Nowak, George Nowak, and Frances Lewis.
A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Monday, September 7, 2020 at Santo Baptist Church.
