Myddelton was his paternal grandmother's name. Roger Massie, Esq, of Coddington married Mary, dau of Roger Middleton, Esq. of Cadwgan, Denbighshire.

There is also a memorial on a flag before the altar rails -
Richard Myddelton Massey, their son, M. D. honorary fellow of the college of physicians, F. R. S. died March 29, 1743, aet 65.

Dr Richard Myddelton Massey was honorary fellow of the College of Physicians 1726
and Fellow of the Royal Society, second son of Edward Massey, Esq. of Rostherne, Cheshire.
He practised in the Isle of Ely and later in Stepney.
In 1726 he was living in Red Lion Street.
Richard was firstly married to Sarah daughter of James Marshall of Wisbech.
Secondly, Richard Middelton Massey, widower, married Mary Crawford, spinster, daughter of Gilbert Crawford of Tower Street, London on 8th May 1723 in St. Leonard, Shoreditch, Hackney, Middlesex.
He retired to Cheshire and died at Rostherne.
