Dr. Ron Howard, 83, of Hopkinsville, KY died at 6:59 p.m. Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, TN.

Visitation will be Saturday, January 29, 2022 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church. Private burial with military honors will take place at a later date in Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Maysville, KY he was born June 24, 1938 the son of the late Wendell and Wanda Howard. He was a graduate of Eastern High School in Louisville, KY, the University of Louisville, and then the University of Louisville Medical School. He then went on to serve his country in the United States Army in the Vietnam War. He was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Army Commendation Medal.

Dr. Howard began practicing medicine in Cadiz, KY from 1967 -1969. He left Cadiz and went to Memphis, TN where he completed his Pediatric Residency at the University of Tennessee at Memphis. He would then return to Kentucky to practice Pediatric Medicine in Hopkinsville for 40 years before retiring in 2011.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church where he served on the Finance Committee and as a member of the Men's Coffee Club.

Survivors include his wife: Betty Howard; his children: Chris (Gretchen) Howard of Bellingham, WA, Tim (Suzanne) Howard of Clemmons, NC, Libby (Steve) Brim of Wildwood, MO, and Beck (Brian) Logan of Frankfort, KY; his brother: Denny Howard of Henderson, KY; his sister: Phyllis Weaver of Birmingham, AL; his grandchildren: Ben Brim, Molly Brim, David Howard, Jonathan Howard, Cooper Howard, Ian Howard, Will Logan, and Claudia Logan. The family would like to express appreciation to his long-term caregivers: Frankie Cunningham and Jeana Crick.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the First United Methodist Church Youth and Children Fund or the Jennie Stuart Health Foundation specifically for the NICU and Well Baby Nursery.
