John L. Perryman, 83, of Rudy, passed away Saturday, Jan. 22, 2022 in Fort Smith.

He was born Feb. 7, 1938 in Rudy to the late James T. and Nellie Mae (Pittman) Perryman.

He served in the U.S. Army, and was retired from Riverside Furniture after 40 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Christine Pound Perryman; three sisters, Patsy Jones, Gladys Mongold, and Florida Perryman; and two brothers, Lawrence and Tommy Perryman.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Jeanette Perryman of the home; a daughter, Jennifer Bruton and husband Tony of Rudy; a son, Charles Erwin of Alma; a sister, Edna Winn and husband BJ of Van Buren; three brothers, Benny and David Perryman, both of Rudy, and Robert Perryman and wife Lynn of Rock Island; five granddaughters, Madysen Bruton of Fort Smith, Hailey Bruton of Rudy, and Kinzie, Gracie, and Lilly Erwin of Alma, and a great-grandson, Kaedon Bruton of Rudy.

Funeral service will be 12:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at the Fort Smith National Cemetery, under the direction of Edwards Van-Alma Funeral Home in Van Buren. Reverend Bo Harvey will be officiating.

Pallbearers will be Charlie Erwin, Tony Bruton, Daniel Nicholson, Chris Nicholson, James Nicholson, Tim Lovell, Doug Lovell, and Bill Winn.
