He was a graduate of Liberty High School Class of 1948. Roy started his career in accounting at Air Products, moved into public accounting in 1960, eventually starting his own firm in 1964. After passing the CPA exam, Roy's firm grew as he added partners. His son David joined him as partner in 1981. He entered semi-retirement in 1992, and fully retired as a 50 year member of the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants in 2016. Roy was a member of St. Timothy's Lutheran Church, Allentown. He was elected by Lehigh County to serve in the Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention in 1968. He served in the US Navy from 1951 – 1955, deployed in Korean War on USS Molala; participated in Operation Castle, the 1954 hydrogen bomb tests at the Enewetek Atoll in the Marshall Islands. The family would like to thank the staffs at Heather Glen, Arcadia Hospice, and Lehigh Valley Hospital for their excellent care of Roy during his last few months.
Survivors: Son, David W. and his wife Denise M. Miller of Emmaus; granddaughters, Kristen M. Tauber and her husband Michael of Macungie and Lauren E. Meeker and her husband Andrew of Allentown; great-grandchildren, Jaxsen Miller, Benjamin Szvetecz, Hillary Szvetecz, and Harrison Szvetecz. Roy was predeceased by his brother Jerome Miller.
Services: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the Stephens Funeral Home, Inc. 274 North Krocks Road, Allentown. Call 6:30 – 8:00 P.M. Monday and 9:30 – 10:30 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in the Greenwood Cemetery, Allentown.
