Otis Green Peace, 91, of Camden, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Timberlane Health and Rehabilitation in El Dorado, Arkansas.

Otis was born on August 9, 1930 to Benjamin and Earnestine Peace in the city of Camden, Arkansas. After his father's death, he left school and started working at International Paper Company at the age of 16 to support him and his widowed mother. He also served in the Arkansas National Guard where he retired as a Staff Sergeant. He was active during a very volatile time in our history as the Cold War raged and Desegregation was tearing our country apart. He retired from the "The Paper Mill" in 1992 after 46 years of service as the tenured "Winder Operator" for Machine #2. After retirement, he was very active as Lieutenant Commander for the Elliott Volunteer Fire Department.

Otis married Zettie Lanell Strange at Fairview United Methodist Church on June 10, 1961. Otis and Lanell shared a happy marriage with three children, five grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Their family enjoyed camping, weekly Sunday dinners, playing outside with the grandkids, and just spending time together.

Otis lived a simple life and took pride in being frugal. He loved being outdoors. You could often find him in the backyard whittling a stick, camping, working in his garden, or getting his gear ready for deer hunting and fishing. He enjoyed taking the whole family camping at the lake and teaching the grandkids how to drive a four-wheeler. None of his meals were complete without cornbread, sweet tea, and dessert.

Otis was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, seven brothers, four sisters and his son-in-law, John Pipkin. He is survived by his daughter, Cindy Pipkin; sons, Randy Peace and Ben Peace; five grandchildren, Ashley (Stephen) Castleberry, Ryan (Christa) Pipkin, Taylor (Jameson) Gruber, Carli (Conner) Coalter, and Brandt Peace; five great-grandchildren, Luke, Jack and Lucy Castleberry, Landree and Maisy Pipkin; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be held at Proctor Funeral Home in Camden, Arkansas on Thursday, January 20, 2022 from 5:00-7:00 pm. A service to celebrate Otis's life will be held at Proctor's on Friday, January 21st at 2:00 pm with internment following at Bethesda Cumberland Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Fairview United Methodist Church (2603 Mt Holly Road, Camden, Arkansas 71701).
