Dominick La Monica grew up at 550 Henry St in Brooklyn. He was a pharmacist. After he was drafted, he joined the U.S. Army on June 4, 1942. Private La Monica was transferred to the 32nd Station Hospital in October 1942 and went overseas with the unit on January 14, 1943. He served with the unit in Tlemcen, Algeria, and Caserta, Italy, reaching the rank of technician 5th grade. On November 3, 1944, while walking south of Caserta, he was struck by a vehicle and mortally injured. In 1948, his body was repatriated to the United States.
