Dorothy "Sis" Murphy of Long Beach entered eternal life peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Addison Point in Chesterton, Indiana.

Dorothy was born September 22, 1947 to the late Joseph Vincent Murphy and Dorothy (Hogan) Murphy in Chicago, Illinois.

She was a loving daughter, sister, niece and aunt. Surviving are nieces, nephews and cousins. She was particularly close to nieces Angela Bales and Erin Murphy Bruce and nephews Daniel Murphy and Matthew Murphy.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, John H "Jack", Rev. Joseph V. and Daniel E. and one niece Maureen Murphy.

She was an educator for over 40 years both in Michigan City and Chicago.

She attended Notre Dame Grade School and Marquette High School (St. Mary's) before she completed a Bachelor's, Master's and Post Graduate work in Elementary Education. She worked with DePaul University to evaluate reading programs and as an E.S.L. teacher, both through Chicago Public Schools.

Reverend Pat Kalich and Rev. Gerald Schwietzer will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. at Notre Dame Church. Private Entombment will follow mass in Cedar Grove Cemetery on Campus of Notre Dame in Notre Dame, Indiana.

Memorials may be made to Notre Dame Church or Notre Dame School Foundation.

She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
