Janice Ann Jackson, 84 of Alexandria died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022 in Community North Hospital, Indianapolis after an extended illness.

Jan was born in Evansville on Mar. 22, 1937 and was the daugther of James and Stella (Shoulder) Mattingly. On Jan. 13, 1977 she married Norm Jackson.

Jan was a member of the Church of St. Mary's in Alexandria, she had been a 4-H leader for over 25 years, the Alexandria Women Service Club and the Friends Home Extention Club, Elwood.

Her family always refereed to Jan as a ray of sunshine. She enjoyed crocheting and sewing, playing cards and gardening as Jan would say " playing in the dirt". Jan was a loving wife and mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Left to carry on her legacy of love is husband of 45 years, Norm Jackson, her children; Don (Misty) Vanhooser, Cindy (Terry) Rosenbarger, Lindy (Rusty) Miller, Penny Downs, Sheryl (Jeff) Graybill, Kriissy (Kevin) Dhonau and Beth (Myron Whittkamper) Cowles; her brother, Donald (Sandy Massey) Childers. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Zach (Nicole) Wright, Drake Vanhooser, Eli Vanhooser, Buster Vanhooser, Morgan (Tim) Quick, Jessiy (Kevin) Rosenbarger-Pownall, Patrick (Kristin) Rosenbarger, Mariah (Jeremy) Shearer, Kylie Dhonua, Kelsey Dhonua, Caitlyn (David) Graybill, Hunter Graybill, Cody Graybill, Haley Graybill; great –grandchildren; Rory, River, Townes, Aidan, Everleigh, Dyllan and Hayes and special friends; Maryjane Baker, Fran Williams, Shirley Schwin, Sue Loser, Linda Gatewood, Wilma Chambers, the Lane family and a host of friends.

She was preded in death by her parents LeRoy Childers and sisters, Betty Simpson and Gloria Barkley.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 28, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. in the Church of St. Marys, Alexandria with Fr. Martin Sandhage as Celebrant. Friends may call at the church on Friday from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm
