John Gerard Burns
Nolensville, TN - age 95, passed away peacefully on January 22, 2022 after a brief illness. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Gentry Burns and son, John (Jerry) Burns, Jr.
John G is survived by his devoted wife, Kaye Gleaves Burns, children: Jan (John) Molteni, Alvin (Pam) Burns, Anne (Lee) Lenox, Billy Burns, Teresa (James) Creecy, Paul Debo Burns, Deborah (Scott) Williams, Scott (Kim) Gleaves, Todd (Erin) Gleaves, Caroline (Bryce) Shanklin, 22 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
John attended St. Patrick School and graduated from Father Ryan High School in 1944 where he was captain of the football team. He served in France and Germany during World War II, was awarded (2) Bronze Service Stars and a Victory Medal. John's love of his country continued throughout his lifetime and he was actively involved in the annual Nolensville Veterans Parade & Breakfast. John returned home from WWII to the family farm on Foster Ave and in 1962 started Burns Bros. Dairy Farm in Arrington, TN.
John loved his Catholic faith, large family, friends and farming. He had a blessed life and was a wonderful father, grandfather and friend to many.
Visitation is Saturday, January 29th from 9:30am to 11:30am. Mass to follow at St Edward Catholic Church 188 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37211. T
A graveside service will occur Monday, January 31, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Calvary Cemetery, 1001 Lebanon Pike, Nashville, TN 37210.. A Celebration of Life is planned in the spring at the Burns Farm, Arrington, TN.
