Carol Elaine Cox was summoned to be with our Lord on January 21st. Born December 22, 1942 to Albert and Agnes (Andrews) Helvig, she graduated from Kokomo High School in 1960, and worked at Union Bank as a teller. There she met James Aikman, married, and made a wonderful home for three children.

Carol was a meticulous homemaker and accomplished seamstress whose projects varied from pageant dresses to Barbie doll clothes. Carol had a giving spirit and volunteered all throughout her children's school years. Though the divorce in 1978 shattered her world, Carol stepped up to provide for her children during the recession. She enrolled in Indiana Business College and received her Associates Degree in Accounting and then started teaching classes there in the evenings. Soon thereafter, she landed a position with Kokomo Township Schools as a bookkeeper.

A pivotal moment was meeting Philip Ray Cox, the love of her life. They married in 1988 and after raising their blended family, they then retired and lived their best life traveling, volunteering, following NASCAR, and spending time with their family and friends. Phil's sudden passing in 2011 left Carol again with a void in her life. While she continued volunteering and traveling through the grief, she finally found her purpose at Cross America, where she volunteered ~30 hours a week spreading the Good News of the Lord for the past four years. When not volunteering, Carol could be found courtside at KHS basketball games and enjoyed playing games, cards, and puzzles.

Vibrant to the very end, she led by example with a smile, a strong work ethic, and a passion for life that will be forever missed.

Surviving Carol are three children: Jean (Aikman) Allen, Janice Aikman, and James Paul Aikman (Claire-Anne); two stepchildren: Anthony Cox (Barbara) and Lynnette (Cox) Landwehr (Greg); 8 Grandchildren and 11 Great-Grandchildren. She also leaves her siblings: Charles Helvig (Margie), James Helvig (Dagna) and Joyce Dennis (Michael); many nieces and nephews and two Sisters-in-Law: Angela (Cox) Sampiere, and Sue Cox (Warren).

Services for Carol will be held on Friday, January 28th at Ellers Mortuary Webster St Chapel with Pastor John Dreyer officiating. Calling for friends and family will be from 11am until 1pm with a funeral service starting at 1pm. Carol will be laid to rest at Sunset Memory Garden.

Please consider contributions to the many organizations with which she volunteered throughout the years to: St. Vincent Kokomo Foundation, 1907 W.
