IN THE LINE OF DUTY
"Norby" died of complications of the Covid virus and occupational non-Hodgkins cancer.
On January 22, 2022 we lost a beloved father, brother, uncle, father-in-law, and friend to many. Nolberto Aguirre Gem was born on February 23, 1956, in Tempe, Arizona but grew up in Phoenix, Arizona where he was the oldest of five brothers and sisters. He attended Carl Hayden high-school where he was a 4 year letterman. At the age of 29, Nolberto decided he wanted to fulfill his dream of becoming a Fire Fighter, he devoted 35 years of his life to the Phoenix Fire Department where he gained many friends and family. Nolberto is survived by his mother, two children, and five siblings. Nolberto was formerly married to the mother of his children and they remained great friends. He was a father figure to many, and was always there to help others in need. When he retired from the Phoenix Fire Department in 2019, he took over caring for his father, Trinidad Gem until his passing and was still caring for his beloved mother. Nolberto loved helping others, he had spent majority of his life attending to others needs because that's what made him happy. He always knew how to make others laugh, and we're all thankful for the memories he has given us. Nolberto will be dearly missed by many, but his love and friendship will live on. Arrangements entrusted to Shadow Mountain Mortuary.
