Janie Verona Rose, 85, surrounded by her family, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday afternoon, July 20, 2020.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Ronald D. Rose; daughters, Julie Esther Rose Joyner and husband, Michael K. Scott Joyner, and Rebecca Rose Gordon; grandchildren, Paul Glenn Pierce Jr. (Tabitha), Joseph Ronald Pierce (Heather), Crystal Nicole Hales, Shannon Michelle Joyner, Michael-David Jeremiah Joyner, Mary-Elisabeth Hala-Alexina Joyner, Benjamin Scott Joyner, Janie-Mae Tabitha Joyner, Joshua Ronald-Lee Joyner; six great-grandchildren; and sister, Joyce Walden.

Verona was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Alexina Thomas; brothers, Norman, Carlisle, and Roscoe Thomas; and sister, Mavis Walker.

A special thanks to Rebecca and Crystal for being Verona's caregivers and ALL they did for her.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 25, 2020, beginning at 1:00 PM at Westview Baptist Church, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2:00 PM. The burial will follow at Rocky Mount Memorial Park.
