Mary Ann, a lifelong parishioner of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, died at Altercare Newark North on Monday, November 29, 2021. She was born in Newark, Ohio on January 28, 1944, to the late John J. and Anna M. (Kanes) Jones.
A 1962 graduate of Newark Catholic High School, Mary Ann attended the 3-B School of Beauty and worked at several local salons. She began working in the clerical offices of Shepherd Hill and joined the staff of Licking Memorial Hospital upon their merger. In 1995, Mary Ann became the Administrative Assistant for the Physical Therapy, Speech Therapy and Occupational Therapy departments. She then transferred to the Volunteers/TWIGS department, where she remained until her retirement in January 2017. Mary Ann was awarded the Cares Award in 2003 by Licking Memorial Health Systems for her positivity, professional attitude, and level of compassion that she consistently displayed beyond the call of ordinary duty.
In her spare time, Mary Ann enjoyed crafting and working with ceramics. She liked to travel, especially enjoying her cruises to Hawaii over the years. She was a doting grandma and cherished the time spent together with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Kelleen (Bill) Graver and Kristina (Gregory) Peck; grandchildren, Alexander, Adam, Alan, Rachael (Ayden) Correa, Riley, and Rebecca; sister, Bonita (Michael) Scott; sisters-in-law, Arlene and Judy Jones; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ann was preceded in death by her brothers, Robert and John Jones.
