Thomas Anthony Neyens, 67, of Lincoln, Neb., formerly of Dubuque, died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2007, following a four-month battle with cancer.

Services were held Dec. 24 at St. Peter's Catholic Church, 4500 Dushall Drive, Lincoln, with the Rev. Thomas MacLean officiating. Burial of the cremated remains was in Calvary Cemetery, Lincoln, where military rites were accorded. The Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home, Lincoln, was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Neyens worked as an anesthetist in California, Hastings, Neb., and finally in Lexington, Neb., from 1973 to 1998.

Born to Julius and Mary Neyens in Dubuque, on May 25, 1940, Tom enjoyed the Boy Scouts, serving as an altar boy, the ROTC, and hunting and fishing.

Tom graduated from the former Loras Academy, Alexian Brothers Hospital, School of Nursing and Northwestern Hospital School of Anesthesia, Minneapolis, in 1964.

He received an honorable discharge from the Navy, where he served as a Lieutenant.

He married Kathryn Davis on Aug. 12, 1961, in Dubuque.

Tom was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lincoln, and a faithful volunteer at Ambassador Nursing Home and the Matt Talbot soup kitchen.

Tom was greatly loved, respected and admired, and he will be missed.

Tom is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of Lincoln; his father-in-law, George Davis, of Dubuque; his daughter, Brenda Neyens, of Omaha; his daughters and sons-in-law, Sheryl and Fred Allen, of Auburn, Julie and Brian Hoscheid, of Omaha, and Linda and Robert Moser, of Austin, Texas; his brothers and their spouses, Jim and Jan Neyens, of Austin, and John and Janet Neyens, of Marion, Iowa; a sister and her spouse, Mary Jo and Pat Clark, of Brooksville, Fla.; a brother-in-law and his wife, Tom and Mary Davis, of El Prado, N.M.; 10 grandchildren, John Allen, of Lincoln, Stephen, Joseph and Katherine Allen, of Auburn, Erin, Emily and Matthew Hoscheid, of Omaha, and Samuel, Jacob and Zachary Moser, of Austin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
