Paul Richard Robinson
Paul Richard Robinson, son of Ralph and Julia Robinson of Scranton, Penn., started life in Elkins Park, Penn. The firstborn son with two brothers, Bob and Ralph, Paul graduated from Cheltenham High School and then earned a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. Two days after graduating Penn, he began a forty-year career with DuPont's Photo Products group, which encompassed time in Westfield, N.J., Rochester, N.Y., and Frankfurt, Germany, as well as Wilmington. After retiring from DuPont, he commenced a second career with Friess Associates, where he helped start their highly successful Brandywine Fund.
Paul's marriage to Sally Horton Morrow in 1952 marked the beginning of a family-oriented lifetime; he cherished his role as husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and the times spent with his loved ones, above all else. During their years abroad, the family took up skiing, which was the basis for many wonderful winter vacations in both Europe and the U.S.—including their Sunday River (Maine) celebration of his 70th birthday. The tent trailer acquired after their return from Germany accompanied them on many memorable summer vacations throughout the U.S. During Paul's "retirement" years, travels with Sally took the couple to Greece, the Holy Land, Africa, and the Galapagos Islands, among other international destinations, and on numerous adventures with their children and grandchildren in New England, the Pacific Northwest, and Alabama.
Paul was a man of faith and steadfast Christian service. A longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, where over the years he served as both trustee and session member, he also regularly participated in Bible study groups, enjoyed the comradery of his Saturday morning men's group, and contributed both time and resources to many local and international service organizations, including Friendship House, Urban Promise, AFS, and World Vision.
Paul's earthly presence will be missed by many, including his wife Sally; his children Peter (Kristin), Tracy Ann, and Christopher (Jeanette); his grandchildren Julia (Patrick), Kirsten, Eric, Alison, Nicholas, and Peter Clair; his great grandson Kristopher; and the many nephews and nieces for whom he cared deeply. But in dying just short of his 99th birthday, Paul did enjoy a good, long earthly run, and recently assured us that he'd have "No regrets on leaving; I will be on the other side whenever you want to join me!"
