Gary J. Bell, age 73 of Prairie du Chien passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at his home. He was born in Jefferson, WI on August 10, 1948, the son of Eugene and Hazel (Meyer) Bell. He graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in the class of 1967. He then lived and worked in the Jefferson area before moving to Prairie du Chien in 1979. He worked several different jobs including Bituma Corporation in Marquette, IA and most recently Cabela's in Prairie du Chien. Gary married Valerie Congdon in October of 1992. He enjoyed planes and motorcycles, as well as watching and building model trains. He also loved spending time outdoors, feeding the squirrels, and observing nature. His wife Valerie preceded him in death on January 29, 2008. He is survived by his children Rick (Sherry) Meyer and Laura Strauman; his siblings Edward Bell and Ruth Barnes; his grandchildren Matthew and Lucas Strauman, Hope and Faith Meyer, and Ariel; and his great-grandchildren Hudson, Case, and Brecken Strauman. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Valerie.

A Private Graveside Service will be held in the Calvary Cemetery in Prairie du Chien, Msgr. Charles Stoetzel officiating.
