Jerry Ray Trammell of Middleburg, Florida passed away on January 20, 2022, at the age of 75. Born in McAlester, Oklahoma on January 2, 1947. He was a proud, enrolled member of the Chickasaw Nation. He attended Will Rodgers High School in McAlester, Oklahoma and at the age of 17 decided to leave school to enlist in the Marine Corps.
Jerry served four years active and 2 years reserve in the Marine Corps and was honorably discharged. While in the Marine Corps, he won the Golden Gloves Boxing Champion while still a private first class. He would eventually go on to be awarded the trophy in the heavyweight division on January 28, 1966. He would also later get his GED.
Being an avid outdoorsman, he loved to hunt, fish, drive 4 wheelers and racecars. He was also an expert rifleman and did his own reloading to ensure accuracy. Jerry became the State of Oklahoma archery champion, three years in a row.
He was the president of Trammell Concrete Construction. Major construction projects included the Jacksonville Riverwalk, the runways at Jacksonville Naval Air Station and numerous Department of Transportation projects. He always loved to point out all the sidewalks around the Jacksonville area that he had worked on.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Opal Trammell (Cunningham), and his sister, Wokeeta (Fuzzy) Hahn. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Mary Ann (Hayden) Trammell; daughters, Chevelle Crusan, Christen, and Nikki Trammell and son, Joe Trammell; stepchildren, Anne-Marie Stockton (Chris), Linda Fasano Martin (Joel) and John Fasano (Laurie). There are also 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He adored and loved them all. He is also survived by a sister, Wynema Lovell (Max) of Green Cove Springs, Fl and brother Kenny Trammell (Ida) of Pahrump, NV; brother in laws; Emmett Hahn and William Hayden and sister-in-law, Linda Hayden.
There will be no formal funeral service. His ashes will be interred at a later date in the Jacksonville National Cemetery with full military honors.
