Mrs. Ruthie Thompson Murphy, 95, of Luthersville, passed away Saturday, May 15, 2021, at Piedmont Newnan Hospital.

Mrs. Murphy was born September 7, 1925 in Coweta County, daughter of the late Hames Ernest Jacobs and Nellie Short Jacobs. Along with her first husband, she owned and operated J. B. Thompson Grocery at Thomas Crossroads for many years. She lived in Coweta County most of her life before making her home in Meriwether County in 2010 and had been a member of Victory Tabernacle in Newnan.

Survivors include her sons, Mark Thompson of Luthersville, David Thompson of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Jason Thompson of Luthersville, Shawna Ford of Illinois, Chris Thompson and Josh Thompson, both of Newnan; great-grandchilden, Phoenix Ford, Quinton Ford, Hunter Ford, Evan Thompson, Brantley Thompson, Grace Thompson, Ember Thompson and Liam Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husbands, J. B. Thompson and Shirley B. Murphy; and her great-grandson, Logan Thompson (Find a Grave 181210434).

The funeral service was conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 20, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home in Hogansville. Pastor Danny Wilson officiated and interment was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Newnan.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 Wednesday night.
