Longtime Groveland resident Sally Green passed away at her home in Chula Vista, CA on January 22, 2022 at the age of 94.
Sally was proud of her January 1, 1928 birth in Chula Vista, CA. She was the daughter of Victor and Gwendoline Day, English immigrants. With her two brothers and sister, she grew up with many dear first cousins playing in Chula Vista's lemon orchards. In 1947 she married Ralph H. Green who was a Forest Ranger with California Department of Forestry (CALFIRE). They moved to northern California raising five daughters and two stepchildren in Auburn and Smartsville.
The family moved to Groveland, CA in 1957 eventually retiring to their "Ranch" off Ferretti Road. Here the raised Christmas trees and grandkids. Sally was devoted to her family and had many lifelong friends made at Sweetwater High School in National City, CA and Groveland, CA. She enjoyed casino visits and crocheting. Sally is survived by daughters Joyce Green Barnes of Chula Vista, CA, Janice Eckles of Nampa, ID, Victoria Metcalf and Cindy Green of Groveland, CA, Kellie Maris of Coeur d'Alene, ID, stepdaughter Pamela Green of Texas and sister Gwen McCaughey of Chula Vista, CA. She was preceded in death by her husband Ralph in 2007, brothers Arthur Day and Richard Day, stepson Robert Green and step granddaughter Erin Green. Her greatest loves were her thirteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. Ralph and Sally are buried together at Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, CA.
