Loving Wife, Mother, & Grandmother Joyce L. Woodmansee, age 76, passed away at home December 23, 2007. She had been recently diagnosed with Metastatic Cancer.
She was born March 19, 1931, in Salt Lake City to Alfred Henry and Elva Marion McPhail Littlewood. She married Gerald Louis Woodmansee September 28, 1962, in the Logan LDS Temple. She is an alumnus of West High School. Joyce loved working "downtown" for many years as a Mountain Bell telephone operator but switched rolls to become a proficient loving mother and wife. Her acumen with the family finances and matters of the household was much appreciated. As an active member of her faith she served in various capacities including positions in the Stake Primary and Relief Society and as a volunteer for her church's Public Relations Department. In calmer days Joyce also enjoyed serving her community as a voting registrar, polling judge, and fervent supporter of her husband's legislative career.
She is survived by: husband, Jerry; daughters: Pamela, Cynthia (Mike) Read, Shelly (Craig) Turner; son: Wade (Carina) Woodmansee, and 11 adored grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, LaVerne, and brothers, Don and Earl. A woman of amazing resilience, she remained a loyal and loving caregiver to her beloved husband into her last days. Thanks Mom. Your example will inspire many beyond your physical presence among us. We hope you are now enjoying that much desired energy and happiness that was drained from you in your last years. We would also like to thank those friends and family members who provided physical and spiritual support through times of stress.
Funeral Services will be held at the Rose Park Stake Center, 760 N. 1200 W., Salt Lake City, Monday, Dec. 31, at 11 a.m. Friends and Family may call at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 S. Redwood Rd., Taylorsville, Sunday from 6-8 p.m. and also at the Stake Center on Monday one hour prior to services.
