Sister Barbara (Walthier) Bell, OP, Born on September 5, 1931 in Appleton, Wisconsin and passed away on Jan 17, 2022. Professed in 1951, she taught in the following schools: Annunciation, Minneapolis; St. Mary, Muncie, IN; Resurrection, Minneapolis; St. Mary, Elkton, SD; St. Gall, Milwaukee; St. Anne, Wausau, WI; St. Mary, Piscataway, MD; St. Rose of Lima, Baltimore, MD; and Visitation, Chicago. Sr. Barbara ministered as a director of religious education at these parishes: St. Thomas of Villanova, Palatine, IL; Visitation, Chicago; St. Patrick, Green Bay, WI; Holy Rosary, Kewaunee, WI; St. Mary Margaret, Neenah, WI; and Holy Innocents, Manitowoc, WI. She served at the Motherhouse, Sinsinawa, WI, as an accountant and in central banking in the General Finance Office before ministering as the pastoral administrator at Sacred Heart Parish, Ronan, MT, and St. Joseph Mission, Charlo, MT. She volunteered as prayer leader at St. Anne Parish, Wausau, WI. Sr. Barbara was a steady, gentle, faith-filled presence who lived her life with grace, hospitality, and integrity. May she rest in peace.

Was preceded in death by her older sister Betty Bell, her twin sister Ruth (Bell) Schimke, brother –in-law Leonard Schimke and her parents Walter and Ruth (Demerath) Bell.

Sister Barb is survived by her two nephews, Thomas Schimke, Stephen (Candy) Schimke and their 5 children; Neil (Julie) Schimke, Aaron Schimke, Carrie(Brad) Behling, Amanda (Jesse) Schettle, Angela (John Landwehr).

She is also survived by her nieces, Sue (Ken) Calaustro, Annie (Ed) Fassl, and their children Stephen Fassl, Emily (Ben) Gard, Samantha (Aaron) Lunsford.
