Jefferson City News Tribune (MO) - January 25, 2022:

Mrs. Barbara Ann Germann, 74, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully Friday, January 21, 2022, at her home.

Barb was born July 1, 1947, in Jefferson City, Mo., to Harold Joseph and Virginia Lee (Edwards) Vossen.

She was married on August 1, 1969, at St. Peter's Church in Jefferson City, Mo., to Kenneth Wayne Bruce, who preceded her in death on October 24, 1993. She and Ken were blessed with three children.

She was married July 18, 2003, at Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City, Mo., to Farrell Arthur Germann, who survives of the home.

Barb attended grade school at St. Peter's Catholic School and graduated from Helias Catholic High School in 1965. She graduated from Lincoln University in 1969 in Jefferson City with a bachelor's degree in elementary education.

Early in their marriage, Barb and Ken lived in Excelsior Springs, Mo., where she taught at the local school. Barb taught at mid-Missouri schools when she and Ken returned to Jefferson City.

She then began her career with the state and was employed with the Missouri Department of Mental Health for more than 20 years until her retirement. During those years, she served as the program coordinator for the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Drug Abuse.

A member of Immaculate Conception Church, Barb participated in the St. Ann's Sodality and the church's prayer line. She would often attend Mass at the Carmelite Monastery and supported the sisters in their endeavors.

Barb had a generous heart and shared her time volunteering with Central Missouri Hospice and Adult Basic Literacy Education (ABLE) in Jefferson City.

Barb enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, and she especially loved cheering on her grandchildren in their activities. Barb was a great cook and an avid reader.

Survivors include her loving family: husband, Farrell Germann; three children, Gregory Bruce (Lori) of Jefferson City, Mo., Michael Bruce of Rancho Mirage, Calif., and Angela Johnson (DJ) of Jefferson City, Mo.; six grandchildren, Samuel Bruce, Garrett Bruce, Megan Bruce, Andrew Schmitz, Chase Johnson, and Taylor Johnson; and several cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ken; and several aunts and uncles.

Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Church in Jefferson City. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 11 a.m,. Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Church with the Reverend Don Antweiler officiating.

Graveside services and interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.

A webcast of the funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday for family and friends who are not able to attend by going to Barb's memorial page through the funeral home's website.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the National Alliance of Mental Illness or the Jefferson City Animal Shelter by mailing all donations to P.O. Box 95, Jefferson City, MO 65102.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Freeman Mortuary.
