Ruby Mae Workman, age 86, of 1100 Fremont Drive., Johnson City, went to join her loving husband and heavenly father on Sunday December 9, 2012.

Ruby was born on April 17, 1926, a daughter of Blaine and Roxie Morgan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, James Ralph Workman, Sr. in 2010, brothers: James, Kenneth, Ronald "Lee" Tyrone and Robert Morgan; sisters: Savannah LeClerc, Kathleen Whitson, and Rosa Lee Morgan and one great, great grandson, Noah Ferren.

Ruby was a beautiful, caring, selfless lady who extended the kindness of her Heavenly Father to all. She was a member of Keystone Free Will Baptist Church and will be missed greatly by her friends and church family.

Survivors include one sister, Ruthie Saylor, of Elizabethton, one son James R. (Jim) Workman, Jr., and wife Linda of Gray, four daughters, Mary Jane Scott of Johnson City, Marie Thomason, and husband Ernie, Erwin, Teresa Kelly, and husband, Richard of Johnson City, Amber Leach, and husband Dean of Johnson City and her "adopted" children Brenda and Gene Deloach. Survivors also include 14 Grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter, and several nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service for Ruby Mae Workman will be conducted at 7:00 PM Wednesday, December 12, 2012 in the Sunrise Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Services, Johnson City with Pastor Richard Kelly, Pastor Terry Jones and Reverend Bill Greer officiating. Music will be under the direction of Brenda DeLoach-Trio, Pure River and Mike Presnell. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5:00 PM till the service hour or at other times at Ruby's home. The Graveside & Committal service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 13, 2012 at Monte Vista Memorial Park. Ruby's grandsons will count it an honor to serve as pallbearers and include Kenny and Timmy Scott, Scotty Thompson, Greg and Brad Workman, Jeremy and Nick Kelly, Brandon and Jerrod Ferren and Chip Thomason. Everyone is asked to meet the family at 1:15 PM to go in procession to the cemetery.

The family extends a gracious thank you to CARIS Hospice for their compassionate, supportive care, especially Noni Weir, RN, Stacey Wright, RN and Tracy Cox, RN, Dr. David Moulton, Dr. Martin Palmeri, Dr. Kyle Colvett, and the nurses of the 2400 and 7500 wings at Johnson City Medical Center, especially Rebecca French, RN, Holly Carter, RN and Rebecca Denman, RN and Josh Mathis, RN.
