Perry was a master tile mechanic for over 50 years and was the founder of Carver Tile and Granite of Gastonia, NC in 1964. He was one of the first to bring the tile trade to Gaston County, and was considered by many to be the best in the business. He loved his job and considered co-workers and customers to be part of his extended family. He was a wise man and had a passion for nature and wildlife. He could often be found strolling his property feeding the animals. He was known by many for his bread trips, to get food for the wildlife surrounding his home. He also could be found many mornings at Wills Food Store #2 where he made many friends. He leaves behind a loving family as well as many friends, including his best friend Lucy the dog.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is preceded in death by his brothers Maurice C. Carver and Forest Benjamin "Benny" Carver (Sylvia); sisters Sara Hodgins (J.B.), Evelyn Miles (Don), and Joan Redding; son Danny Carver; nephew Michael Redding; nieces Rosemary Rodgers and Cindy Hovis.
He is survived by his son, Alan Carver (Donna); grandchildren Greg, Van. Jarred, Brett and Nicholas Carver, Annie Lewis; step grandchildren Rhonnie and Christian MacRae, sister Francis Carver Waters (Warren); brother-in-law Boyce Redding and a number of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 pm on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Carothers Funeral Home at Gaston Memorial Park with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 1:00 pm. A graveside service will follow at Gaston Memorial Park.
