Dave was born (September 15, 1934) and raised in Mishawaka Indiana, the son of Ward and Mary Baker. He briefly attended Indiana University and then enlisted in the Air Force in 1954. He served for 20 years, traveling the world, and experiencing things most will never know including a tour during the Vietnam war and supporting two Apollo missions. After retiring from the Air Force, he worked for the Mishawaka School System for a few years and then worked as Head of Maintenance for St. Francis Convent for eighteen years, until he retired in 2000. He married Norma while in the Service and they were together for 35 years raising three children. After losing Norma in 1990, he met and married Judy Orr in 1992. Dave and Judy were married for 30 years living in Ogden Dunes, Indiana before permanently moving to Arizona in 2012.
Dave was an avid golfer, historian, sports enthusiast (go IU and White Soxs!) and genealogist. He loved his family and friends. He was kind and generous to all he loved and knew. We will miss his stories, his humor, his wisdom, and his warmth. He lived a great life and left a mark on all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Judy; his daughters Laura Smith and Susan Elliott (Dave's Son Mark passed away in 2006); Son in Law John Elliott; Daughter-in-Law Cathy and her daughter Shay; Stepson Erick Orr, his wife Margaret, and Stepdaughter Caisa Prichard as well as her husband Jason Pritchard. He also had seven grandchildren Cody, Beau, Jordan, Spencer, Matthew, Calum, and Lily. He is also survived by his Brother John Baker, his wife Marlene, and their children Rick (wife Lynn), Michele (husband Patrick), Debbie (husband Gary) and Brenda (husband Pete).
There will not be a formal service. His ashes will be returned to Mishawaka, and he will be buried at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka Indiana.
