John joined the USMC 1963-68 and served in Vietnam expeditionary forces. He was a Bronze Star recipient. After exposure to Agent Orange, John eventually became 100% disabled.
John worked in the food industry for 30 years as chef, manager and was owner of the Korner Kitchen in Delmar. He also worked in construction for approximately a decade.
John is survived by his wife, Elaine of nearly 43 years, his sister, Betsy Morena (Tom) of Toms River, NJ, sister-in-law, Carol Lewis (Roy) of Salisbury and brother-in-law, George Bassett (Ann) of Lonsdale, AR and several nieces and nephews. They include Shannon Ross (Michael), Brent Lewis (Ariel), Eric Lewis, Trey Bassett (Janis), Brad Bassett, Jeffrey Morena and Allison Bunn (Ray).
John was a devoted husband to Elaine and loved his dog, Harley and cat, Shadow. John enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing the lotto and slots, reading a multitude of magazines and solving word puzzles.
No memorial services are scheduled at this time. A graveside service for the family at the Veteran's Cemetery in Beulah is anticipated in the future.
