Trang was born in Vietnam to Thanh H. & Lieu T. (Tu) Trang. Trang was a South Vietnamese army officer who fled the country in 1975 after the fall of Saigon, leaving his family behind. He was granted asylum by the United States and was reunited with his wife, Be Trang and his 4 children, including Actress Thuy Trang, in 1980, and settled in California. He would later pass away from Cancer.
