Mrs. Simpson died Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Piedmont Healthcare Center. Mrs. Simpson was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County, a graduate of Spring Garden High School, and attended Jacksonville State University.

She began her work career at Lawtex Manufacturing in the bookkeeping area and later moved into a healthcare position at the Piedmont Hospital. She worked in the Medical Records Department as a cancer registrar at Piedmont Hospital and Kennestone Hospital in Marietta, Georgia. After retirement from Kennestone, Mrs. Simpson worked in the Human Resources Department for Bostrom Seating in Piedmont. She loved all of her work places and made countless friends along the way. Everyone knew her as Mrs. Frances and she loved it. Mrs. Simpson approached work and personal responsibilities with vigor and determination to do the very best job she could do and never stopped until just a few years ago when her health began to decline. She taught her family that you can accomplish a lot with a strong work ethic and being sweet and kind to everyone. She will also be remembered for maintaining her home and property in an immaculate order with enjoyment in the process.

She loved her family dearly and loved spending time with all of them. She was known as "Mama" by her grandchildren and she will be greatly missed. Mrs. Simpson attended the Congregational Methodist Church and loved traveling with her family to the beach, attending the Rockettes, and other musical concerts.

She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law of Glencoe, Alabama, two grandchildren; one sister of Piedmont, a sister-in-law; five great-grandchildren; two nephews; a niece and great-nieces and nephews and her special furry grandson, Barney.

A special note of love and appreciation to her favorite cousin who spoke with her weekly without fail for many years. There are not enough words to express the joy those calls brought to her. Also a special note of love and appreciation to her hair stylist for many, many years. She looked forward to every appointment and the opportunity to talk. Thank you to Legacy Village in Jacksonville and Piedmont Healthcare/Rehab for all of the love and care during her illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kyle Simpson, parents, Jesse Hershel and Gertie Mae Prater; brother, Charles Prater, and brother-in-law Flowers may be sent or memorial contributions may be made to the Congregational Methodist Church, Piedmont, Alabama.

Funeral services for Margaret "Frances" Simpson, 91, of Piedmont will be Monday, January, 24, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Thompson Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
