Carl graduated from Unicoi County High School in 1963. He served 2 years in Vietnam with the United States Army 1st Cavalry. After returning home, he graduated from Steed College in 1976 and worked at Eastman Chemical Company for 35 years before retiring in 1999.
He is preceded in death by his son Richard Williams, parents, Coy and Irene (Phillips) Williams, siblings Ernest Williams and Joyce (Williams) Barnett and brother-in-law Gary English.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Edna (Harris) Williams; former wife Pat (Ayers) Williams; children Keith (Tracie) Williams, Timothy Harris, and Pamela (Dillon) Roosa; sister Betty (Williams) English; sisters-in-law Brenda Figgins and Diane Williams; grandchildren Michael Williams, Nathan Williams, Seth (Amber) Sherman, Julia (Cory) Windham and Gabriel Roosa; and several nieces, nephews and great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Valley Funeral Home from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, January 24, 2022 followed by a funeral service at 7:00 pm. Reverend Ferrell Peterson and Reverend Art Gibson will officiate. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Mountain Home National Cemetery in Mountain Home, Tennessee on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm. Those attending the committal service should meet at Mountain Home National Cemetery by 1:50 pm on Tuesday for the service.
