Stanley Gardner Williams, age 87 of Newport, passed away Friday, January 21, 2022 at Tennova Newport Medical Center.

Stanley was a proud veteran of the US Army Corps of Engineers, serving as a Corporal during the Korean War era. He was widely known as an expert machinist and mechanic, having owned and operated his own business for more than 50 years.

One of six children born to the late Gather & Gladys Williams, he was raised in the Sunset Gap community.

He is survived by his daughter Darbi (Kevin) Neas; grandson, Corbin (Jessica) Neas; lifelong friend, Terri Lewis; sisters, Vivkye Boykin & Christine Whaley; several nieces & nephews. Stanley was also greatly anticipating the birth of his first great-grandchild, Iris Ruth Neas, who is due this summer. In addition, he leaves behind several close friends, including Reece Hembree, Jackie Costner, Johnny Williamson, and many other friends and customers he had met over the years.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the physicians, nurses, and staff of Tennova Newport Medical Center. Their compassionate care was greatly appreciated.

Burial with military honors will be at 11AM Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Union Cemetery.
