James Melvin Hudson, 94, of Washington, Iowa, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, January 19, 2022.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Faith Baptist Church located at 1220 W. Madison Street in Washington, Iowa. A memorial service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with a luncheon following. A private burial will take place in Fulton-Cairo Cemetery in Morning Sun, Iowa.

James was born on December 9, 1927, in Findlay, Ohio, the son of Ray and Miriam "Ethel" (Leidigh) Hudson. He graduated in 1946 from City High School in Iowa City, Iowa.
James was united in marriage to Hazel Martin on March 6, 1947, in Henry County.
Over the years, he worked as a farm hand, Greyhound bus driver, lineman for the telephone company, and a mechanic for Proctor & Gamble.
James was a member of New Covenant Bible Church in Cedar Rapids and Faith Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa.
James enjoyed biking, traveling, photography and adventures. He helped do wood floor work. James was an inventor, who was always looking for ways to make things work better. He took joy in seeing his great-grandchildren increase by year.
James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Ethel Hudson; wife of 70 years, Hazel Hudson; son, Randy Hudson; son-in-law, Tom Perry; and granddaughter, Jessica Cobb.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in James' memory may be made to either Hospice of Washington County or the Compassion Fund at Faith Baptist Church in Washington, Iowa.
