Mrs. Peggy White, 89, of Galesburg, Illinois, died on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, in Marigold Health Care Center, Galesburg.
Peggy was born on February 10, 1932, in Norfolk, Virginia, as the daughter of Oscar Ansell and Elizabeth Dunn Ansell. She married Robert White of London Mills in 1951 and together they brought into this world and raised two beautiful daughters.
Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Barbara "Barb" (Bill) Hourigan, of Decatur, Illinois, and Sandra "Sandi" White, of Galesburg along with 4 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, two nieces, and one nephew. She is preceded in death by Robert, her parents, her two brothers, two sisters, and four nephews.
Peggy received her education in Virginia and went on to work at Gale Products Outboard Marine Corporation, managing the paperwork and employee insurance side of the company. She worked there until the factory closed down in the mid-1980s. During her free time, Peggy loved sewing and tending to her garden, she especially enjoyed weeding her lawn and anywhere else she found a weed and volunteer work. She also found joy in playing many computer games and playing Sudoku (in ink). Her contagious smile, sense of humor, and courageous strength brought so much happiness to those she held close to her heart. She created many unforgettable memories that will continue to be cherished and remembered by her friends and family forever, she will be dearly missed.
