Funeral Services for Anthony Richard "Tony" Smith, 77, of Gilmer, Texas, will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, January 22, 2022, in the Chapel of McWhorter Funeral Home with Brother Charles Johnson officiating. Interment to follow at Rosewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 pm prior to the service.
Tony was born February 28, 1944, in Camp County, Texas to H. C. and Mabel Whitfield Smith and passed from this life January 19, 2022. He married Deplora Lynnette Gillentine, January 10, 1981, in Rosewood, Texas. He worked as an Electrical Lineman for 50 years until his retirement and proudly received his IBEW Electrical Union 50 year pin. Tony was a member of Harmony United Methodist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Lynnette Smith; children, Richard Smith and his wife, Shelli, Misti Smith and her husband, Jay Andrews, Lilly Smith, Scott Veach and his wife, Amanda, and Susan Veach; brother, Larry Smith and his wife, Ann; sister-in-law, Jo Smith; 8 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Glenn Smith; and his stepdaughter, Dawn Veach.
Pallbearers are Keith Boren, Will Baskerville, Heath Smith, Scott Veach, and Jay Andrews.
Honorary pallbearers are James Powell and the Harmony High School Class of 1962.
