William Edgar Murray, III, age 79 of Tuscaloosa, passed away Monday, January 17, 2022 at Forest Manor Rehab. Services will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Magnolia Chapel South with Bro. Curtis Kelley and Bro. Randy Pate officiating and Magnolia Chapel South directing. Entombment will follow at Magnolia Mausoleum. He will lie in state from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm prior to the service. The family will also receive guest at The Murray's residence tonight, Wednesday, January 19, 2022 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.

He is preceded in death by his parents; William Edgar Murray, Jr. and Mary Ruby Wade Murray; brothers; Daniel Curtis Murray and James Douglas Murray, In-Laws; James Walter Pate and Sara Margaret Gregg Pate, sisters-in-law; Betty Marshall, and Syble Hall.

Bill was born and raised in Alberta City. He graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1960. He worked as an apprentice at Gulf States Paper and later joined the Army National Guard. After serving six years in the National Guard, he returned to Gulf States Paper as a crane operator. He remained there until they closed. In addition , he worked at Tosyali International and Atrax. He retired from Mercedes Benz in 2005. He ran "PawPaw" daycare for his grandchildren for several years after he retired. He enjoyed visiting the beach , fishing with family and friends and carpentry. He also enjoyed gardening with his wife of 53 years and day tripping with anyone. Bill was an avid Alabama sports fan, especially when it came to Alabama football. He also enjoyed Nascar.
