Cheryl Theresa (nee Ferguson) Barrett, 68, of Manahawkin, NJ passed away peacefully on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, 2020. She was born on Thursday, August 16, 1951 and grew up in Paterson, NJ. Cheryl attended John F. Kennedy High School and upon graduation she enrolled in Katharine Gibbs Secretarial School. She moved down to Barnegat, NJ and started a family. She was a Professional Assistant at Southern Regional School District. Cheryl was in charge of Southern's well known scholarship program for 15 years. During her time at the helm, she was successful at fundraising millions of dollars that went to the graduating students of Southern to further their education. Her legacy will be carried on by her children and grandchildren who were her whole world. When it comes to family, nothing was more important to Cheryl. Cheryl is survived by her son Richard Trapanese and wife Jeanne, her two grandchildren Ricky and Jordyn, daughter Victoria Hannum and husband Richard, two granddaughters Reilynn and Olivia, her son Robert Barrett and fiancé Catherine, grandchildren Caden, Cuinn and Cuade, along with many cousins, aunts and uncles. She is predeceased by her father and mother Robert and Theresa Ferguson, sister Marilyn Ferguson, daughter Nicole Trapanese and husband Raymond Barrett. Viewing to be held at Thos L. Shinn Funeral Home on Friday, May 15, 2020, 10 Hilliard Drive, Manahawkin, NJ 08050. Due to Covid-19, the viewing will be private. A Celebration of Life to be held at a later date for family and friends to attend. Viewing hours from 10-12 PM. Burial at Saint Mary's Cemetery at 1 PM.
