Harding "Jay" Sweet Jr., 77, of Petersburg, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, January 8, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield, Illinois. He was born December 20, 1944, to Harding and Grace Evelyn (Curtis) Sweet Sr. in Alhambra, California.
Harding attended Pana High School. He served our grateful nation in the Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. He then worked in construction mainly roofing houses.
Harding is survived by his two sons; one daughter-in-law; two grandsons; one granddaughter daughter-in-law; three sisters andonebrother-in-law.
Harding was preceded in death by his parents.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 20, 2022, from 11 am to 1 pm at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg. The funeral service will follow with Harding's family sharing memories. Burial will take place after services at Rose Hill Cemetery in Petersburg.
